We're opening a new hub in Seoul, South Korea – Fieldguide’s first international hub outside the United States.

Seoul will be a core part of how we build products, ship AI, and scale our platform for the future. We're building a full product team here: engineering, design, and product, with engineers as the foundation. This post is about why we chose Seoul, what we're building, and the kind of people we're looking for.

Why Seoul

Fieldguide is an AI-native audit and advisory platform. The problems we're solving sit at the intersection of agentic AI, enterprise workflows, and a deep, complex domain. That means we need people who can build at the frontier of what AI systems can do today while shipping production software that enterprise customers trust.

Seoul is one of the best places in the world to find those people.

South Korea is a global AI powerhouse. Stanford HAI's Global AI Vibrancy Tool ranks South Korea among the top five AI nations in the world. The country places 3rd in the global AI Readiness Index, ahead of most of Europe and on par with nations many times its size.

The AI talent is world-class. Korea produces frontier AI talents at every level, from top CS programs at SNU, KAIST, and POSTECH etc. Korean-built foundation models from the national sovereign AI initiative now rank on Artificial Analysis's Frontier leaderboard alongside OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, and are open-sourced on HuggingFace. This is a market where engineers ship large-scale AI systems to production, not just publish papers about them.

The country is all-in on AI. South Korea has the second highest R&D-to-GDP ratio in the OECD. The government tripled its AI budget for 2026, passed the AI Basic Act as comprehensive AI governance legislation, and launched a national AI talent development plan spanning education through graduate research. This isn't a country experimenting with AI. It's a country building its future on it.

Beyond the talent, the timezone matters. Seoul gives us meaningful overlap with our San Francisco headquarters and positions us to support our expanding global customer base, particularly as we grow into APAC and beyond.

What We're Building

Fieldguide's product vision centers on agentic AI for audit and advisory. We're building an end-to-end system where AI agents orchestrate evidence requests, perform testing procedures, and generate reporting for risk and financial audits. These are agentic production systems that over half of the top 100 largest CPA firms in the world rely on.

The Seoul office will own real surface area from day one. We're not parceling out maintenance work or spinning up a team on peripheral features. We operate as one product organization: high ownership, high autonomy, tight collaboration across San Francisco and Seoul.

How We Work

A few things about Fieldguide's engineering culture that matter here.

We're an agentic engineering org. We don't just build AI products. We build with AI. Our engineers use AI tooling throughout development, and we measure ourselves on output and velocity.

Ownership is real. We're a Series C company and very much still a startup. There's no layer of middle management between you and the problem. Engineers own systems end-to-end, influence architecture, and ship to production with minimal ceremony.

We move fast and stay rigorous. Fieldguide sells to enterprise CPA firms. These customers care about correctness, security, and reliability. Speed without quality doesn't fly. We hold both simultaneously.

Who We're Looking For

We're hiring the founding team for Fieldguide Seoul, starting with engineers. We’re especially interested in people with experience in:

  • Agentic AI systems — building, evaluating, and orchestrating LLM-powered agents in production
  • AI evaluation and testing infrastructure — measuring whether agents actually work
  • Platform engineering — the systems that let everything else scale

We want people who are excited about hard, novel problems in a domain (audit and assurance) that most of the tech industry has ignored. If you've been looking for a place where AI engineering is the actual foundation of the company, this is that place.

Seniority matters less than capability and ambition. If you can own systems, ship with urgency, and raise the bar for the people around you, we want to talk.

What's Next

We're at the very beginning of the Fieldguide Seoul. Everything is ahead of us and the people who join now will define the culture, the standards, and the trajectory of Fieldguide Seoul.

Junsoo Jang, Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Fieldguide, will lead Fieldguide Seoul. He's built core AI capabilities across the platform, from AI Chat to Field Agents, and is now taking on the next big challenge: building a world-class AI-native product team in Seoul from the ground up, backed directly by Fieldguide's founders.

If you're in Seoul and this resonates, reach out. We're building something meaningful, and we'd love for you to be part of it from the start.
